Field to Table Schools Table Schools Development and Outreach Staff

An educator with a strong understanding of the food system, including nutrition and cooking, gardening and composting, to organize Field to Table programs in schools, connecting Farms to Schools and Schools to Farms, creating educational programs and activities that promote a local and Greenbelt food system.

Detailed Job Description

• Provides support to local (and developing) Field to Table programs in schools, connecting Farms to Schools, creating education documents that relate food and where it comes from at the appropriate grade level, through the distribution of information to schools, local groups, community development, consultation and planning.

• Effectively communicate to and educate students and their families about Ontario’s Greenbelt.

• Assists with the development of resources/information and workshops for use in Field to Table programs.

• Provides assistance to Field to Table Schools programs with program administration, resource development and partnership connections.

• Recruit, train and coordinate, Field to Table Schools volunteers.

Qualifications:

• Experience working with children and youth

• Demonstrated interest in issues of food security and nutrition among children and youth

• Understanding of community development

• Experience gardening, cooking and composting

• Strong oral speaking, communications and interpersonal skills

• Ability to plan and facilitate workshops and meetings

• Experience working with/in non for profit sector

• Experience in preparing reports, budgets and financial statements

• Computer skills (e.g., Word, Excel, email, internet)

The following will be considered assets:

• Prior experience working with ethnocultural-diverse communities

• Other language(s),

• Valid driver’s license

Hours and compensation: 37.5 hours per week, $36 000 plus FoodShare’s generous benefits package (some evenings and week-ends)
