School and Community Fresh Produce Customer Service Representative

FoodShare Toronto, an award winning and innovative non-profit organization that promotes healthy, affordable and culturally appropriate food is seeking an energetic, detailed oriented and well-organized School and Community Fresh Produce Customer Service Representative with data base and customer service experience and knowledge of the food system.

Main Responsibilities:            
To provide excellent customer service to schools and community groups and place the weekly produce orders for schools and community organizations.

Detailed Job Description:

  1. Inputs the data for fresh produce orders for 80 schools, 20 agencies, 20 Good Food Markets and any new customers.

  2. Provides exceptional customer service to a diverse group of program users from student nutrition coordinators, to principals and to community agency staff.

  3. In consultation with the Good Food Box Coordinator and Director of Social Enterprise, develops the product mix for FoodShare’s Fresh Produce programs and emails and faxes out the weekly order form(s).

  4. Create route plans for school and community deliveries.

  5. Keeps track of payments and contacts schools or community groups who owe past payments and reconciles terminal orders.

  6. Develops educational and promotional materials about healthy eating, fresh produce, the relationship of healthy eating to student success, local farming and other food system issues. As time permits, develop a School Fresh Produce Newsletter and assists in writing and formatting the bi-weekly Good Food Box newsletter.

  7. As time permits visit schools and community organizations to encourage them to order fresh produce from FoodShare.

  8. As time permits, supports the Good Food Box Coordinator and Director of Social Enterprise in ordering other fresh produce.

  9. Participates in FoodShare staff and team meetings and as time permits and as agreed upon, takes on other organization-wide responsibilities and tasks.

Reports to:  Zahra Parvinian, Director of Social Enterprise
Salary in 2008: $36,000 plus excellent benefits plan
Duration: One year contract (maternity leave)
